In chapter 15, Anthony starts off by saying, "The sad truth is that when you're a jarhead, you're incapable of not being a jarhead, you are a symbol..."(119) he then goes on to say that when you sign up for the Marines it isn't for the Eagle, Globe and Anchor, it is for the dress blues. This chapter infers that the Marines are more associated with the very disicplined aspect/"mask" that we see them as. Marines in war are used more for their impressive resume, that strikes intimidation into the opposing side.
